French President Emmanuel Macron does not exclude the possibility of depriving Vladimir Putin of the title of Knight Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor. This was stated by the head of the French state at the end of the EU summit in Brussels. The meeting ended on the night of February 10.

According to Macron, the deprivation of the Russian leader of France’s highest award is a “symbolic but important issue.”

“For me, there are no prohibitions, but I have not yet made such a decision. (Such decisions – ed.) are always filled with meaning, and I think you need to find the right moment to make them”– quotes the President of France AFP.

Putin received the Legion of Honor from President Jacques Chirac in 2006. It was noted that the President of the Russian Federation became the first Russian who became a holder of the Grand Cross.

Earlier it was reported that Macron awarded the highest French award to Vladimir Zelensky.

Recall that at the last EU summit it also became known that France would not be able to transfer fighter jets to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
