The Ukrainian authorities decided to take a desperate step in order to “defeat” Russia in a special operation. Kyiv is preparing for the offensive under the supervision of NATO.

american newspaper Politico noted that in order to prepare the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the attack, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky decided to toughen the punishment for desertion and refusal to follow orders. Violators will be sent to prison for at least five years.

But the main change was that deserters and militants who disobeyed commanders would not be released from punishment. They will also not be able to receive a suspended sentence.

Zelensky explained his decision by saying that due to the tightening of laws in Ukraine, discipline will be strengthened, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will avoid “unreasonable losses.”

One of the Ukrainian officers, during a conversation with the newspaper, emphasized that sometimes soldiers can be saved from senseless death only by leaving their positions.

“If they can’t deliver ammunition or rotate, when you sit in the trenches for several days without sleep and rest, your combat value is reduced to zero”– quotes the commander RIA News.

Kyiv is trying to plug a gap in its armor with the mobilized. Only now they are taking people to the front in a not very humane way – some men are literally grabbed from the streets. Evidence videos are constantly appearing on the web.

As for Europe, its countries are still confident that by pumping Kyiv with weapons and equipment, they will help Ukraine win. But the Russian side has repeatedly warned the West: all weapons supplied to the nationalists will be destroyed.

In addition, Kevin Künert, an ally of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, admitted earlier that the supply of weapons only intensifies the conflict in Ukraine and does not help either side in any way. However, Scholz did not listen to the politician and called on other EU countries to increase military assistance to Kyiv.

On January 25, Germany announced its decision to supply 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and allowed their re-export by other operators. On the same day, the US announced the transfer of 31 M1A2 Abrams. Earlier, Poland promised to transfer a company of Leopard tanks (14 vehicles) to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Britain officially announced the delivery of 14 Challenger tanks to Ukraine. Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, France and other countries expressed their readiness to send tanks to Ukraine. The exact total number of tanks promised to Kyiv is unknown, but Ukraine has said it expects to receive 321 heavy tanks.

As military expert Viktor Litovkin noted, the Leopard company will not be able to change the situation in the war zone. According to him, German tanks are not new and lose even the T-72 in terms of performance. At the same time, the Bundeswehr was in a deplorable state due to the decision to transfer armored vehicles to Ukraine.

A similar position was voiced by military expert Alexander Khramchikhin. He said that both Leopard and Challenger are inferior to domestic technology, and their number is not enough to solve the problems of Ukraine: the Armed Forces of Ukraine need hundreds of tanks, but if they get them, then the West itself will be left without protection.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries harmful and counterproductive.
