Argentina could change its policy towards pregnant Russian women entering the country against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by lawyer Alisher Zahidov in an interview with REN TV.

According to the lawyer, in Argentina the “principle of land” operates. A child born there automatically receives citizenship. An Argentinean passport entitles you to visa-free entry to 170 countries around the world.

The expert noted that in 2022 the country was visited by two thousand pregnant women from the Russian Federation, another 10 thousand are expected this year. At the same time, the country did not support Russia’s position regarding the special military operation.

“The local authorities decided to close this loophole, thereby stopping the uncontrolled flow of citizens from Russia. Most likely, the situation will change and conditions will be required under which Russian women will be able to come and give birth in Argentina”– Zakhidov shared his thoughts.

Note that now the Russians do not need a visa to enter Argentina. The period of continuous stay in the country is up to 90 days.

Earlier it became known about six pregnant Russian citizens who were not allowed into Argentina. Some women have been at the airport for several days.

Recall that lawyer Timur Matveev said that Argentina has the right to refuse pregnant women entry into the country.
