North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) said Tuesday it “tracked and intercepted” four Russian aircraft that allegedly intruded into Alaska’s air defense zone on Feb. 13.

It is specified that the Russian planes were in international airspace, RIA Novosti reports.

NORAD noted that flights of Russian aircraft in the air defense zone of Alaska are a regular occurrence. They are not seen as a threat or provocation.

In addition, the command added that the flights of Russian aircraft are in no way connected with “unidentified flying objects” in the sky over the United States and Canada.

Earlier it was reported that the US military has detected a large number of flying objects in the sky over the United States in recent days due to new settings in radar systems. This was stated by the coordinator of strategic communications in the National Security Council John Kirby.

Thus, the US military reported on February 2 that they had been tracking a Chinese reconnaissance balloon over the north of the country for several days. Two days later, the balloon was shot down with an air-to-air missile. The wreckage of the ball was brought to the Pentagon and the FBI.

A few days later, on February 10, another balloon appeared in the sky over Alaska, it was also shot down. It was not possible to establish the belonging and purpose of the ball to the American military. The next day, an unidentified aircraft was shot down on the border with Canada. Canada’s defense minister said he threatened civil aviation.
