A man accidentally killed his son with a samurai sword due to poor grades in school. This is reported South China Morning Post.
The incident occurred in the Chinese city of Mianyang, Sichuan province.
Yang Junming divorced his wife a few years ago because of his infidelity, which became apparent.
Since then, the Chinese lived alone with his 13-year-old son.
At a parent-teacher meeting, the teachers told the man about the boy’s poor academic performance, which went against the father’s ambitions for his son. The child had poor grades and scored 18 out of 100 on the physical education test.
After the meeting, the father accused the boy of being lazy and studying poorly.
“You always blame me for not being diligent enough. I already studied hard enough” the child replied.
Because of these words, the father got angry and hit his son with a samurai sword, leaving a wound 10 centimeters long on the child’s waist.
Junming immediately called an ambulance, after 10 minutes the doctors were at the scene of the emergency. The boy was hospitalized.
Despite all the efforts of doctors, the boy died from blood loss.
An autopsy showed that there were other, older injuries on the child’s body. Judging by them, he was repeatedly beaten.
The child’s father told police he “just wanted to scare” his son. He also revealed that he bought the sword from an online store because he collected samurai swords.
The man was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
