The ability of the UN to act as a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine raises questions, since the organization takes a “critical” position towards the Russian Federation, said Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN.
He noted that earlier the UN Security Council had failed to ensure peace and security in accordance with the Minsk agreements. Nebenzya recalled that the West admitted that by extending the agreements, they were rearming the Kiev regime and preparing it for a war against Russia.
“Today, many people say that the UN should definitely play the role of a mediator between Russia and Ukraine. And what do you think, given what I said, can we trust such mediation? Where is the guarantee that now the secretariat will behave to another?“, Nebenzya said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the anniversary of the Minsk agreements.
In addition, the permanent representative pointed out that since the first days of the special operation, the UN Secretariat has been doing nothing but repeating the claims and accusations against Russia after the West.
Recall, earlier, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former French President Francois Hollande admitted that they entered into the Minsk agreements with the sole purpose of buying time to strengthen the Ukrainian army.
