Japan asks for UN Security Council meeting over North Korean missile launches

Japan has requested an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council because of North Korean missile launches. The corresponding statement was made by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

According to him, the launch of an intercontinental missile was followed by a launch of ballistic missiles. This greatly worried Japan, according to RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Japanese Ministry of Defense clarified that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles. The first rocket flew at an altitude of 100 kilometers, the flight range was 400 kilometers. The second – respectively 50 and 350 kilometers.

The Japanese government has strongly protested North Korea over the missile launches.

And the Republic of Korea announced its intention to impose sanctions against four individuals and five organizations that may be related to the DPRK’s missile program.
