Russia will comply with the START-3 restrictions on nuclear warhead carriers, despite the decision to suspend its participation in the Treaty. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Yevgeny Ilyin.

“The process of exchanging notifications within the framework of the 1988 agreements between the Soviet Union and the United States of America has also been established, it exists and will be implemented in full,” he added during a speech in the State Duma.

Recall that the United States and Russia signed the START Treaty on April 8, 2010 in Prague. Under the terms of the agreement, each side must reduce its nuclear arsenals so that in seven years, that is, in 2017, and beyond, the total number of weapons does not exceed 700 ballistic missiles, 1,550 warheads and 800 deployed and non-deployed launchers.

The day before, on February 21, President Vladimir Putin, speaking with a message to the Federal Assembly, announced that Russia was temporarily suspending its participation in START-3.
