The largest celebration took place in the Kaluga region. The art park “Nikola-Lenivets” traditionally staged a truly grandiose show with old Russian entertainment and a mystical atmosphere. Correspondent “Izvestia” Ksenia Soldatova took part in the event.
“I feel like a pancake in a frying pan, to be honest” she notes.
Them, only made of wood, guests are offered to burn in the oven along with negative emotions.
And, of course, pancakes are served here. The Hot Pies smoke nervously while looking at their competitors.
“We had a pancake cake and it was taken apart very quickly because there were pieces of kiwi and pieces of orange inside“, – tells our film crew.
This year, the organizers of the festivities in the Nikola-Lenivets park have collected old Russian Maslenitsa entertainments. There are “tails” and a passage along a log (this is when you need to disperse together). Some even have their own techniques.
These are now trampolines, and earlier they laid straw like this.
Some of the guests prepared in advance for the holiday. This carnival has become the most mystical
“We are freed from the negative ballasts of the past year. Feelings, you know, very wonderful. This is my little victory“, say those who came to the event.
Positive vibrations, like a huge repeater, radiated the main object of the holiday. This year, the organizers decided to burn a wooden cube with 19-meter sides.
The author of the project, Igor Oparin, explains: his figure is the “fourth wall” in art, a metaphorical obstacle between the artist and the viewer. And only by destroying his audience can you make him empathize.
“If from a symbolic point of view, this is all that prevents us from moving forward. We deliberately made a thing that you want to burn“, – says the author of the project “The Fourth Wall” Igor Oparin.
“Guests are invited to join the performance. And, in order to get rid of everything that interferes, write it on a note and hide it somewhere in the installation. It should even burn better,” our correspondent says.
The culmination of the holiday is the burning of the sculpture. To meditative music, artists set fire to the “fourth wall” with torches.
“It has been snowing heavily here for the last couple of days, and it has been raining during the day. The author was worried – suddenly the straw would get wet, it would be bad to burn. But in the end everything goes according to plan“, – says Soldatova.
True, it was not for long. Here you can see the circle on the facade. He had to burn out first, create a gap. Another symbol, like a ray of light, hope … But the audience liked everything anyway.
“I feel free. I feel an incredible high“, says one of the viewers.
“Honestly? I have tears rolling in. I do not know why. I can not explain. I smile, all the negative walls that we built around ourselves are destroyed and burned.‘ said another viewer.
At some point, the burning structure simply collapsed. Everything that you so wanted to burn burned down faster than expected, taking with it everything unnecessary, making way for spring.
