In recent weeks, the West has been actively discussing the issue of supplying combat aircraft to Kyiv. After the NATO countries agreed to the supply of tanks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to demand fighter jets from the allies. On February 8, Zelensky made another request in London to transfer planes to Kyiv.
The United States and Europe are skeptical about this idea: Germany unequivocally refuses, Great Britain is ready to give up its aircraft, but they are in disrepair, France will not be able to organize the delivery of fighters in the coming weeks, Finland does not exclude the possibility of delivery, but there is no final decision yet.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov on February 9 drew attention to the increased involvement of the West in the conflict in Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the supply of foreign equipment will only prolong the hostilities in Ukraine, but this will in no way affect Russia’s plans to achieve the goals of the NMD. In addition, any cargo of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be considered a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces.
