The school administration and the leadership of the Danish city of Helsingor defended a teacher of Russian origin after Ukrainian children and their parents harassed her.

How tells TV2 channel, the conflict arose in early February. In Denmark, it is customary for two teachers to conduct classes in the so-called “reception classes” at the same time. And so, at the Helsinger school, a Danish-Russian teacher was assigned to conduct lessons along with a Danish colleague. However, two Ukrainian children, having learned the nationality of the teacher, at first began to behave very rudely, write insults in Ukrainian against the teacher, and then completely disrupt classes, singing the anthem of Ukraine.

In response, the teachers went to the school administration, and it was the Danish colleague who took the initiative, who turned out to be extremely angry at the incident. After that, the head teacher scolded the children and sent out to the parents of all the students in the class, in which she said that the teachers had been harassed and demanded that this be stopped.

After that, the conflict only escalated. Three Ukrainian parents demanded that the school put their children in another teacher, and dismiss the Danish-Russian teacher. So one woman said that putting a Russian teacher to work with Ukrainian children is “disrespectful to all Ukrainians.” They also said that the children would not return to school while a Russian was working there.

And on February 24, two Ukrainians broke into the lesson of a Danish-Russian teacher and tried to hang the flag of Ukraine. However, the Danish teacher again put up active resistance to them, who, having heard the refusal to remove the flag, simply tore it off and again went to the head teacher. She, in turn, tried to explain to the students that the school “adopted neutrality.”

After the incident, the students reportedly locked themselves in the toilet, where they “were crying and talking loudly on the phone.” And several teachers had a nervous breakdown.

The children themselves claim that since a Russian teacher works at the school, it means that the school supports Russia.

At the same time, the teacher herself has been living in Denmark for 30 years, has local citizenship and has been teaching at a Danish school for many years.

The mayor of Helsingør, Benedikte Kjær, had to intervene.

The mothers want the school to fire this teacher. But we don’t do that in Denmark. We do not fire people based on nationality“, she told TV2.
