Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador, better known as AMLO, spent part of his life in Villa Tepetitanin the state of Tabasco, where he had a childhood like any other child in this community located in southern Mexico.
The house he was born in still stands there, as does the house of his grandparents. Today, both places are no longer used for housing, but are cultural centers.
The house he was born in is now a library, and his grandparents’ house will soon become a museum.
The library, which has a collection of about 5420 books and Internet access, is called Professor Carlos Mario Carrillo Carrillo and it was founded 32 years ago, however, it was only this Friday that it was opened as a public library.
As for the museum, it will be called Public Museum Casa Obrador and will open its doors on March 11, a special date for the current president of Mexico, as his grandfather was born on that day, Don Jose Obrador RevueltTo.
Inside the new cultural hall, personal items will be displayed and the history of the family will be known, as well as a place to sell items from the region.
“The community museum is trying to focus on Tepetitan as a space of historical significance, where it will be reflected through photographs, maps and some items donated by the community, which was interested in creating a small museum collection to preserve the memory of the city. “, – assured the promoters of this initiative.
The house, which was also a small shop and even a canteen, was abandoned for several years, but was recently renovated and saved by the family of the current president of Mexico.
