Three LAPD officers are hospitalized in stable condition after a shooting in Lincoln Heights.one of the oldest neighborhoods in Los Angeles, after being shot at by a suspect who barricaded himself in a residential garage for several minutes. The unidentified subject was pronounced dead during the search.
According to local reports,Arriving police looking for a suspect in a criminal offense is still unknown, so the man fled the scene and barricaded himself, while the officers called for reinforcements.
The K9 units initially confronted the suspect, but he resisted, so the officers fired tear gas to restrain him, to no avail, and in response, the man fired, wounding three uniformed officers.
Two police officers were taken away from the scene in police cars due to their condition, while a third was taken away in an ambulance to the hospital.
The officers, who were described as high-ranking officers in the Metropolitan Division, were taken to LAC+ USC Medical Center, where they LAPD Chief Michelle Moore said they were all in stable condition.
In the meantime, a warning was broadcast at the scene to residents near the shooting site to stay inside and lock their doors for safety as the suspect was armed as an LAPD helicopter hovered overhead.
According to ABC News, the suspect eventually died after a long search and after the operation, which involved up to 200 police officers.
Regardless, drivers and residents are requested to stay away from the area while authorities continue to investigate.
