Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church expressed outrage at the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to evict the monks from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
“This decision is the apogee of lawlessness. The lawlessness that has been going on against millions of Ukrainian believers over the past years… The expulsion of the canonical Church from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra will forever be inscribed in the history of anti-church persecution, this ruthless act of persecution will be remembered by believers all over the world “– wrote the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church Vladimir Legoyda in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, the directorate of the national reserve “Kiev-Pechersk Lavra” sent a warning to the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate that the monks must leave the temple before March 29. Previously, the reason for this decision was the violation of the terms of the contract by the clergy.
It is worth noting that actions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church began to be toughened back in November 2022. Criminal cases were initiated against a number of priests, and the main accusation was their alleged pro-Russian activity.
