It is unlikely that a small group could blow up Nord Stream, German defense expert Geran Svistek believes. He stated this on the air of the TV channel ZDF.

Thus, he answered the question of who could arrange a terrorist attack.

“From my point of view, definitely not a group of six,” he noted.

According to Svistek, such a terrorist attack requires many months of preparation, special knowledge, and significant financial resources. All this, the expert believes, cannot be obtained by a small group.

“I know few people who know how to work at this depth and have experience with explosives,” – added Svistek.

The specialist did not make assumptions about the customers and perpetrators of the terrorist attack, but stressed that it would be very difficult to pull off such an operation quietly.

On March 11, it became known that an oil tanker under the Greek flag was drifting near the place of sabotage between September 6 and 13, “waiting for instructions.”

On March 7, The New York Times published an article accusing a certain Ukrainian group of terrorist attacks on pipelines. Following the NYT, the German edition of Die Zeit said that investigators have not yet found solid evidence that would point to the mastermind behind the attacks. Later, there were reports of a Ukrainian businessman whose involvement “is indicated by the nature of the sabotage.” The West, according to British media reports, will hide his name for the sake of “preserving unity on the issue of supporting Ukraine.”

The author of a high-profile investigation into the role of the United States in undermining the Nord Stream, Seymour Hersh, ridiculed Western governments for such an obvious manipulation of public opinion.

Military experts from Russia and the United States agreed that publications in Western newspapers on this topic are an outright lie and an attempt by the United States to hide its own participation in the attacks.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov considered the articles about the Ukrainian trace in sabotage to be a coordinated stuffing in the media. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, noted that the leaks of information about investigations are a trick and Western regimes should deal with official responses to requests.
