Officers of the 53rd brigade of the Ukrainian army, stationed near Avdiivka, threaten to shoot recruits for attempting to retreat from forward positions. On March 13, a captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told about this.
“If you retreat back, they say to us (officers) at the KNP (command and observation post): “We will shoot” … I wanted to refuse … They give a long term. They said that through the court – from 7 to 10 years, “- he said in an interview with RIA Novosti reporters.
The command promised that the next day the unit would be withdrawn from the front line. The man was going to go to the rear and refuse to perform military duties there – so he would have received a shorter sentence. He said that he and his colleagues were sent to the front line of the fortified area of the 53rd brigade near Avdiivka.
“Well, we came, and there they already began to take us by storm – and we surrendered. We tried to shoot back, but then a young lad and I – I don’t know his name – say: “Let’s surrender as prisoners, because we want to live,” added the soldier.
All colleagues supported them and came out to the Russian military with their hands up, without weapons and ammunition.
“In principle, BC don’t give us much,” complained the military.
Before being sent to the front, the fighter underwent a two-day training course. He was taken prisoner in the area of the village of Vodiane in the Avdeevsky direction.
On March 7, it became known that the Russian infantry was conducting an active offensive in the Avdeevka direction. The ring of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is gradually shrinking. For several months, high-intensity battles were not relevant for this region and were limited to positional confrontation and local battles; they intensified again in early March.
Advisor to the acting head of the DPR, Yan Gagin, noted that the offensive near Avdiivka reduced the intensity of shelling of Donetsk.
