Border Patrol admits immigration is a matter of national security

This Wednesday the leader US Border Patrol, Raul Ortiz, testified before the House Homeland Security Committee about the crisis taking place on the southern border. Ortiz stated that he lacks “operational control” of the border, thus contradicting the words of the secretary National Security, Alejandro Majorcas.

During an offsite hearing of the House National Security Committee, the Chairman of the Republican Committee, Mark Greenasked Ortiz about DHS provides “operational management” for high levels of border crossings.

“Does DHS have operational control over our entire border?”Green asked. Raul Ortiz replied “no, sir.”

Following Ortiz’s response, Green turned on a video of his boss. Alejandro Majorcas, testifying that the department has “operational management”. on the southern border.

The video led Green to interrogate Ortiz. “Do you think Secretary Mallorcas is shooting there?” to which the chief of the border guard said: “Sir, when we talked about operational control about 10 years ago, we used operational control as a measure of our effectiveness along the southwestern border. My new strategy is focused on mission advantage.“.

The chairman of the Republican committee pressed the chief of border guards to say that the secretary of homeland security was lying in the statement he showed on the video, but Ortiz chose not to play the game and limited himself to saying: “I did not see the rest of the evidence, sir.”

Green had only one comment “This is ignorance or a lie …”.

Representative Carlos A. Jiménez also asked Ortiz about “immigrant runaways”. and his answer was that “there is another 20% flight of foreign immigrants without taking into account”.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) found that since October 1, fiscal year 2023, there have been approximately 385,000 known leaks at the border.

Ortiz also pointed out that Disagree with Trump administration policy on separation of immigrant families as part of a strategy to prevent illegal crossings, and even called it a “serious problem” and believes that “there must be another way to solve some of the problems that we face.”

“We must stop catching and releasing” Cabrea

Sheriff of Kinney County, Texas Brad Coeindicated that due to The Biden administration’s “open door” policy has led to a surge in immigrants.approximately 165 people overnight, and stated that he did not have the necessary equipment to stop them.

He also stated that in calendar year 2022, Kinney County deputies arrested 741 smugglers and filed more than 3,000 felony charges.

And he acknowledged that after the increase in immigration Vehicle pursuits and bail releases are also on the rise.

Among the witnesses was also Chris Cabrea, spokesman for the National Border Services Council (NBPC)which reported that there were 2.2 million arrests during fiscal year 2022, about five times the number of arrests made in the final year of the Trump administration.

Cabrea, who is in charge of Rio Grande de Texas street sector stressed that last year all those arrested were andremoved from the country under Section 42 and that at least 1.2 million immigrants managed to escape.

“If we are going to solve the problem of chaos at the border, we need two things: the first and most important, we have to finish catch and release. The second question is Congressional responsibility and resources must be given to Border Patrol to carry out our mission to secure the border,” Cabrera said.
