The Russian authorities managed to prevent a decisive response to the Ukrainian crisis from the United States and NATO, which now show their lack of strategic plans. The corresponding statement was made by the former assistant to Donald Trump for national security, John Bolton.

He believes that the North Atlantic Alliance was afraid of threats from Moscow about the escalation of the crisis, and US President Joe Biden could not, and did not try to prevent the conflict. Bolton acknowledged that the Russian leadership “masterfully prevented a NATO response that would have been decisive enough to ensure a victorious end to the conflict,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

Moscow’s successful intimidation demonstrates Washington’s inability to clearly define its goals in the conflict and build a strategy to achieve them. Biden wants Russia to lose, but fears Ukraine will win“, Bolton stressed. He also noted that now the situation is at an impasse, and NATO has already had disagreements over the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Trump’s ex-adviser noted that the White House is actually giving Ukraine just enough weapons so that it can defend itself. But at the same time, the United States does not help Ukraine win.

Since the beginning of the special operation to protect the Donbass, the United States has provided Ukraine with $76.8 billion in aid, of which $46.6 billion was allocated specifically for military assistance. At the same time, the United States handed over to the Kyiv authorities weapons purchased several decades ago, the disposal of which would have cost $35 billion.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stressed that any shipments of weapons supplied by the countries of the collective West to Kyiv would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that such supplies would not stop, but prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries “harmful” and “counterproductive.”
