Western countries, led by the United States, continue to pump weapons into Ukraine, supplying ever new types of them: infantry fighting vehicles, armored vehicles, tanks, missile systems, artillery systems, and MLRS.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky began to demand that NATO supply military aviation to Kyiv almost immediately, as soon as the sending of German and American tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was approved.
French President Emmanuel Macron on January 30 did not rule out the supply of aircraft to Ukraine. On the same day, the Politico newspaper reported that Paris was ready to train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16, and the next day, American leader Joe Biden announced that the United States would not supply Ukraine with F-16s.
In Poland, they stated that they would be able to supply F-16 fighters to the Kyiv regime only after this step was approved by NATO. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in turn, noted that the supply of weapons of this type would lead to an escalation of relations with Russia, so Germany does not intend to transfer its fighter jets to Kiev. In Britain, they expressed their readiness to provide Kyiv with military aviation upon completion of the Russian special operation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries “harmful” and “counterproductive.”
