ICE arrests 220 immigrants with criminal records in nationwide raid

In a nationwide raid by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal (ERO) Division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), agents detained 220 undocumented immigrants with serious crimes or criminal records between March 4 and 13, ICE reported on Friday at your statement.

A 64-year-old Mexican man was arrested in Chicago, convicted in March 2022 of aggravated sexual assault against a victim under the age of 13.

A 33-year-old Nicaraguan convicted in January 2009 of robbery was arrested in Miami, where a 20-year-old Cuban convicted of second-degree murder was also arrested.

A 50-year-old Salvadorian was arrested in New York and convicted in May 2022 of the felony of sexual assault against a person under the age of 11.

Thomas Giles, director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Office (ERO) in Los Angeles, where the 25 foreigners were detained, said the arrests “should be a clear warning that if you choose to ignore the laws of our country, we will continue to work tirelessly.” to find and remove” violators.

For his part, ERO Deputy Director Corey A. Price explained that his agents “weigh various factors during prosecution and detention to ensure that we apply United States immigration laws humanely, efficiently, and with the utmost professionalism.”

In fiscal year 2022, ERO arrested 46,396 foreigners with a criminal record for deportation.
