Serbia and unrecognized Kosovo have agreed on a course of action to normalize relations, the first step of which should be the granting of self-government rights to the Serbian minority in the republic. This was announced by the head of the European Union’s foreign service, Josep Borrell, following negotiations between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, mediated by the EU, which took place in North Macedonia and lasted more than 12 hours.

Borrell said that Pristina must fulfill these own obligations, specified in Article 7 of the Agreement on the normalization of relations between Serbia and unrecognized Kosovo.

“First of all, Kosovo agreed immediately, and I emphasize immediately, to launch EU-brokered dialogue negotiations to ensure the necessary level of self-government for the Serbian community in Kosovo,” he said.

Earlier, Aleksandar Vucic said that the authorities of Serbia and the unrecognized Kosovo had reached an agreement on a number of points for the implementation of the EU proposal for a settlement. According to one of them, Pristina pledged to form the Community of Serbian Municipalities in Kosovo.
