Sending depleted uranium munitions from London to Ukraine will undermine stability in the world, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes. He made such a statement on March 21.
“I will not be surprised at anything, because they have already lost their bearings in terms of their actions, in terms of how these actions undermine strategic stability around the world,” Lavrov said in an interview with the Russia-1 TV channel.
On March 21, British Defense Secretary Annabelle Goldie announced London’s intention to transfer to Kiev shells with a depleted uranium core: they have increased armor-piercing and are used in the ammunition of Western tanks supplied to Ukraine.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that London’s plans are reminiscent of the “Yugoslavian scenario.” She stressed that these shells not only kill, but also pollute the environment and provoke oncology in people.
Deliveries of shells with uranium to Ukraine are all the more pointless because modern Russian tanks are designed in such a way that they can withstand the impact of such a munition.
