Modern neo-Nazism “raised its head” in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a funeral ceremony at the Khatyn memorial complex.

According to him, the example of neighboring countries shows how this ideology grows on the ruins of monuments to victorious soldiers, on the ruins of the memory of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Soviet legacy.

“We see how the instincts of the ancestors of Ukrainian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Polish punishers wake up, throwing our children, old people and women into the fire”– added the Belarusian leader.

Recall that on March 22, Belarus remembers the victims of the tragedy in the village of Khatyn. 80 years ago, the Nazis and their henchmen burned 149 people alive in a collective farm barn. Killed including 75 children.

On March 16, another procession of former Waffen-SS legionnaires and their supporters took place in Riga. The event was attended by various politicians and parliamentarians, and the day before, President Egils Levits called for a “correct” reading of Latvian history.

This demonstration was strongly condemned in Russia and Belarus. So, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the incident a neo-fascist bacchanalia and pointed out that the Latvians were violating their own laws.
