The Russian army decided to take a short break before the decisive assault on Artemovsk. About this on March 24 in an interview with “Izvestia” said military expert Vasily Dandykin.

He stressed that Artemovsk is a fairly large city. Therefore, the soldiers need to look around and gain a foothold in the liberated quarters before going into the decisive battle.

“We need to clean up so that there are no epidemics. Ukrainian militants do not take away their bodies … Then, if the Armed Forces of Ukraine try to unblock the garrison, it will be necessary to repel attacks. If they collect reserves, it is necessary to strike at their positions. I think that this is being done, VKS work. Most likely, this pause is not for long. It remains a little before the complete liberation of the city”says the expert.

Dandykin also noted that for the Kyiv authorities, the retention of this city is a matter of reputation. And Russian forces, meanwhile, continue to squeeze the militants into pincers.

According to the expert’s assumptions, the nationalists may try to go on the offensive with the advent of heat. But they are unlikely to succeed in doing this, since the Russian Armed Forces are destroying Ukrainian warehouses with ammunition and fuel and lubricants. And without these resources, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to do anything.

Recall that on March 22 it was reported that Artemovsk was practically blocked. On the same day, it became known that at the moment the Russian army controls over 70% of the city.
