Incidents such as the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas continue to cause mourning in cities and prompt repeated calls for gun reform.
Until now, trend marks a stable line in recent years, the Armed Violence Archive recorded over 647 mass shootings in 2022 and 690 in 2021. At the same time last year, there were 113 mass executions in the country.

The deadliest shooting this year took place in Tate County, Mississippi, where a 52-year-old man killed six people; Michigan State University at East Lansing, where three were killed and five injured, and Half Moon Bay and Monterey Park, both in California, where 18 people were killed two days apart by two heavily armed assailants.
