Body of Hispanic soldier found dead at Fort Hood released to her family

The body of Hispanic soldier Ana Basaldua, found dead on March 13 at a repair site at the Fort Hood military base in Texas, was handed over to her relatives on Thursday afternoon in the city of Los Angeles.

The remains of a young woman arrived at the airport in this city at 17:24 on a Delta plane from Dallas.

Laura Herzog, director of Honoring Our Fallen, which provided assistance to the family, told Telemundo News that the casket arrived covered with a US flag and was received by members of the Army Honor Guard.

LAPD and airport fire officials also paid tribute to him on the runway.

In the video filmed by Herzog, you can see the young woman’s father, Baldo Basaldua, who lives in California, her mother, Alejandra Ruiz, and her 19-year-old sister, Natalie, who traveled from Michoacán, Mexico, praying in front of the coffin, accompanied by friends and families.

The soldier’s body was taken to Long Beach, the city where her father lives, where the family planned to hold a private memorial service.

Basaldua’s mother said a few days ago that they planned to cremate the body and then take it to Tacambaro, Michoacán, where the soldier was born.

In the unit in which the girl served, a memorial service will be held on April 6, to which she invited her family. Activities inside the Texas military base will not be open to the public.

A 20 year old guy who enlisted in the United States Army to have a better standard of living, was found without vital signs V Fort Hood Military Base, the one where Vanessa Guillen died.

The cause of Basaldua’s death is still unknown, whose autopsy is being carried out by a forensic expert from the Armed Forces. Upon completion, the report will be forwarded to the Army Criminal Investigation Division and filed.

Friends and relatives of 20-year-old Basaldua said the young soldier told them about the problems of the alleged harassment she suffered shortly after arriving at the Texas military base.

The military base said in a statement that “information relating to any possible prosecution will be fully reviewed and investigated” by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the US Department of Defense.
