In connection with this unfortunate event, the Teotihuacan Balloon Federation (FEGAT) announced that the damaged unit did not have flight permits. “Neither the company nor the aircraft are part of the flight groups of permit holders that are part of FEGAT,” the agency said in a statement.
In a statement, the federation explained that it is made up of eight companies that operate within all applicable and valid regulatory frameworks set by the Mexican aviation authority, the Federal Aviation Administration (AFAC).
The federation asked the authorities to cancel the activities of companies that operate outside the legal field, and sometimes underground, and prevent the growth of such companies, as well as to check that balloon flights are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the law.
Similarly, he urged the public to make sure it was a company that had permission, equipment, and certified pilots before hiring any service.
