The publication notes that the cat, who is already eight years old, gained excess weight due to excessive consumption of unhealthy food. It took two people to lift the animal.
Richmond animal control and welfare officials posted on Facebook about finding a new home for the fat cat.
“Wake up today thinking, ‘Let’s adopt the biggest cat anyone has ever seen’? Then we have a cat for you,” the shelter staff wrote.
