Astronomer Maria Smirnova, head of the observatory of the St. Petersburg Planetarium, said in an interview with REN TV about the consequences of a magnetic storm on Earth for a person.
Recall that on April 23, the strength of the magnetic storm on the planet, caused by a solar flare, has grown to the level of G4 – very strong. The next indicator is already considered critical by scientists. Despite this, scientists argue that even such a level is harmless for a person.
“Polar lights and magnetic storms do not affect the health and well-being of a person, this has long been tested and proven, although we often continue to talk about it,” – said Maria Smirnova.
She recalled that the main reason that people are still convinced that magnetic storms affect health lies in an old study by Russian scientists. However, other scientists later refuted the results.
“As a result, they later proved that there is no influence, at least on the scale that has been happening for the last hundred years. Nothing like this has been observed, but we continue to talk about it very often, unfortunately,” Smirnova said.
