“After Putin’s death”: a civil war awaits the Russian Federation due to the struggle for power – political scientist

According to expert Dmitry Oreshkin, after the death of the head of state, which has removed all the features of a democratic country, the struggle for the “throne” will begin. The one with more military power wins.

Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to fully control power in the country, which only increases the likelihood of a civil war. This opinion was voiced by the Russian political scientist Dmitry Oreshkin in the broadcast of Channel 24.

According to him, the current leader of the Kremlin has been running the country for over 20 years. During this time, he managed to completely equalize the judicial, executive and legislative branches of government. That is, all laws have completely lost value.

As the political scientist noted, although the Russian Federation has all the features of a democratic state, none of them simply works. When Vladimir Putin dies, a prime minister will come to power in the next three months, who will organize the elections. But the Kremlin elite is unlikely to abide by these rules and seize power sooner. This would be a prerequisite for the start of a civil war.

“Whoever has more military power will control Russia. Therefore, after Putin’s death, the owners of the biggest power sources will fight for power. Maybe it will be Prigozhin or Kadyrov, or they will unite and act together against Shoigu and Gerasimov. Putin, Russia. “The more he controls his political life, the more he discredits political institutions and the more chances that after his death the question of power will be decided by a civil war.”

At the same time, the Russian political scientist believes that the support of Vladimir Putin among the public is 75%, but only 25% of them are staunch supporters, and the rest go with the flow and immediately change their rhetoric after his death.

Recall that on April 26, the ISW announced what is keeping Putin from serious repression in Russia. According to them, the head of the Kremlin is still trying to portray himself as a “diplomatic and tolerant tsar”.
