Russia will never make unilateral concessions in relations with the United States, and dialogue between our countries is possible only on the basis of a balance of interests. Such a statement did Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with Argumenty i Fakty newspaper.
“One thing is clear to me, and I want to emphasize this, speaking just about what will happen next: we will never make unilateral concessions to the United States”– says the diplomat.
As one of the reasons for this position, Ryabkov cited the belief that any concessions would be “a powerful reason to sharply increase pressure.”
The Deputy Foreign Minister recalled that Russia continues to conduct a dialogue with the US Embassy in Moscow. His diplomat described it as complex, accompanied by constant skirmishes and claims. Nevertheless, Ryabkov expressed hope that the experience of the US Ambassador to Moscow, Lynn Tracy, will help her correctly assess what is happening and warn Washington about the risks of their policy.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry handed a note of protest to the US Embassy over the refusal to issue visas to Russian journalists from the pool of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who were supposed to cover meetings of the UN Security Council.
