Taxi drivers on the Greek island of Rhodes attacked Cool Rhodes, which is run by Uber, and smashed the cars. The drivers said they would continue protesting until the company left the island, local media reported.

Publications note that local taxi drivers do not like working conditions with a giant in the same market. They accuse Uber of unfair competition.

The police opened a criminal case against the rebels. According to the investigation, the taxi drivers have a leader – the 65-year-old head of the association of local taxi owners. He organized a mob to attack competitors’ cars and injure a Cool Rhodes employee who suffered a broken leg as a result. Law enforcement officers of the country have already detained a 26-year-old man who, along with other taxi drivers, participated in the riots.

Representatives of the “daughter” of Uber said about “unimaginable acts of threats, beatings, blackmail and sabotage by an organized and controlled group.”

We will not tolerate unlawful acts by third parties against our employees and property. We have already taken the necessary legal action“, — transmits portal newsit.gr application Cool Rhodes.

The company also mentioned that there were already conflicts with drivers on the island of Mykonos, but Uber remained there.

Earlier, on April 21, it was reported that Yandex had finally bought out a share of the Russian segment of Uber. Representatives of the IT company noted that this will not affect the operation of services.
