Refusal to use the dollar in interstate settlements in favor of the yuan will help the economic development of countries. This confidence was expressed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a meeting with the special envoy of the Chinese government for the Middle East Zhai Jun, transmits Syrian agency SANA.

An exemption from settlement in dollars becomes necessary. The BRICS countries can play a key role in this area in addition to choosing the Chinese yuan for trade settlements between countries“, Assad said.

The Russian Ministry of Finance previously reported that our country had almost abandoned international settlements in dollars.

On April 27, it became known that Argentina also abandoned the dollar in trade with China and switched to the yuan instead.

In the Chinese edition of Daily Shincho, the trend of abandoning the dollar as an international currency was explained by the fall in the international prestige of the United States.

Renaud Gerard, a columnist for the French edition of Le Figaro, called the rejection of the dollar an inevitable process. In China, they emphasized that by using the currency as a means of pressure on other countries, the US itself is bringing the end of its dominance closer.

Former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, in turn, noted that Washington began to lose its global influence, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said that sooner or later the dominance of the dollar will come to an end, since the process of de-dollarization has already begun.
