Doctors gave zero chances: twins born at 22 weeks of gestation survived (photo)

After birth, Harley and Harry were transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit and stayed for 140 days before finally returning home. The twins had to undergo many surgeries.

In the UK, twins Harley and Harry Crane were born at 22 weeks of pregnancy, their doctors gave them zero chances of survival. This period is several days shorter than the allowable abortion period. The mirror talks about it.

Regardless, the siblings showed incredible vitality as they spent 140 days in the neonatal intensive care unit until they finally returned home. They are now 17 months old, happy and healthy.

Their mother, Jade Crane, 41, said that one year after being discharged from the hospital, she was no longer afraid for her miracle babies and was confident that they would live happily ever after.

Born at just 500 grams, the Harley now weighs an incredible 11 kilograms and can already stand on its own. His brother Harry, who was born 520 grams, is now 9 kilos.

“We’re so happy they’re this good. We were so scared last year. They’re getting stronger but their character hasn’t changed since birth. Harley is ridiculous and Harry is calm. Now they are,” says the twins’ mother.

When Jade felt her water coming, she immediately went to the hospital. As a result of the examination, it was revealed that there was an early rupture of the amniotic membrane at the 22nd week of pregnancy.

“The doctors said my children had a 0% chance of survival. They were alive, they were moving and they were crying. Their cry was like a little kitten crying,” the Briton recalls.

After giving birth, Harley and Harry were transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit, where they had to go through many complex procedures. They had to be connected to ventilators. The twins had to undergo many surgeries. Harley had a stoma that was later removed and Harry received eye injections to prevent premature blindness.
