The BMP, tested by the Swedish prime minister, is called one of the best in the world, not only in terms of technical specifications. The combat vehicle is capable of reconnaissance, evacuation and fire support in combat operations.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, together with Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer, conducted inspection and testing on the CV 90 infantry fighting vehicle, which was delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The politician announced his test drive on his Instagram page.

The caption reads: “Here we did a test drive of the Hägglund Combat Vehicle 90 production vehicle, which Sweden also delivered to Ukraine.”

At the moment, Ukraine has not officially announced that it has received the promised equipment from Sweden.

BMP CV 90: the known

The Stridsfordon, also called the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, is a fairly young vehicle that has been mass-produced by Hägglunds since 1993. Bradley manufactures military equipment such as the Archer, the M777, the Challenger tank, and the Eurofighter Typhoon fighters. Currently, new modifications of the BMP are competing for the place of the main BMP of the next generation for the US and Czech armies.

The BMP is not only called the best in terms of technical characteristics on paper, because the CV90 took part in hostilities during the war in Afghanistan and the civil war in Liberia.

The CV90 infantry fighting vehicle can help perform many tasks – reconnaissance and evacuation, fire support in combat operations. The manufacturer explains the main objectives of the BMP as follows: “A vehicle that provides high tactical and strategic mobility, high survivability and protection in any terrain or environment.”

The main feature of the CV90 is the 40 mm Bofors Defense L/70 cannon, capable of destroying both ground and air targets. Fire is carried out in two ways – a single and automatic cycle. Destruction range – 2000 m for ground targets and 4000 m for air targets.

Recall that the tankers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used the Swedish Carl Gustaf grenade launcher near Bakhmut. Soldiers of the 1st Assault Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade use it against enemy personnel and armored vehicles.

Military exercise Aurora-23 was held in Sweden. 14 countries and 26,000 personnel participated. Among them is Ukraine. These maneuvers were the largest in 25 years.
