“We will do our best”: US ready to supply Ukraine with more weapons – Blinken

The US Secretary of State said that even before the full-scale Russian invasion, the Americans focused on supporting the Armed Forces. According to him, the weapons provided helped prevent the capture of the Ukrainian capital.

The Americans are ready to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with more weapons, if necessary. This was expressed by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in an interview with PBS NewsHour on the government’s website on May 11.

The US Secretary of State emphasized that the government is working overtime even before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory to ensure that the defenders have everything they need for defense.

“First, when we saw this coming, we wanted to make sure they had what they needed in case it happened. And indeed, with the Stinger and Javelin we provided before the Russian aggression, they were able to repel any attempts to take Kiev and take over the whole country,” Blinken said.

He noted that more than 50 countries have combined their efforts to support Ukraine. According to him, the main goal was to ensure the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to adapt to different combat conditions.

“It’s a process and we work literally every day with a coalition of Ukrainians and these countries to make sure they get support. If there are gaps, if there are shortcomings, they will tell us and we will do our best to fix them.” Blinken sure.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Ukraine is ready to help depending on the capabilities and technologies of its partner countries in the coalition. According to Blinken, the US provided “some unique things” to the APU through this strategy.

“And as I said before, it’s not just about weapon systems. It’s also about training, because you can give someone a great weapon system, but if they don’t know how to use it, it won’t do them any good. That and maintenance, because if they don’t know how to maintain it, you give it to them and it falls apart in seven days – that doesn’t bode well for you.

Recall, earlier Anthony Blinken said that the United States will continue to support Ukraine, regardless of the effectiveness of the planned counterattack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Also, the US Secretary of State has previously stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces is in much better shape than it seems. He shared that he was sure of the success of the counterattack and the occupation of the territories.
