Peace in Ukraine should not come on Moscow’s terms, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. His words lead TASS.

Scholz noted that Kyiv supposedly ready for peace, but allegedly unable to “freeze” the conflict.

“Ukraine is ready for peace. But with our support, they demand that there be no frozen conflict and peace dictated by Russia,” the German Chancellor said.

The German leader added that the conflict in Ukraine “has huge geopolitical consequences.”

Russia has repeatedly declared its readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. However, as presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov pointed out, the Ukrainian authorities “absolutely deny” the talks.

The Kremlin spokesman drew attention to the fact that Kyiv does not show “political will” and does not enter into a dialogue with Moscow.

It is worth noting that the representatives of Kyiv themselves regularly voiced completely unrealistic conditions for starting negotiations.

Russia noted that in April 2022, the dialogue between Moscow and Kiev “under pressure from Western curators on the Ukrainian authorities” was interrupted. Now, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier, Moscow will proceed from the situation “on the ground,” as well as take into account the reluctance of a number of liberated regions to return under the control of the Kyiv authorities.
