Lavrov discussed with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan the current situation in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov. They discussed the current situation in Ukraine, according to site Russian Foreign Ministry.

The meeting took place in Moscow. In addition to Ukraine, the diplomats also discussed a range of issues related to strengthening the strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation between countries in the political and economic spheres.

“When discussing issues of regional and international security, Lavrov outlined Russian assessments of the current situation in Ukraine and the progress of the special military operation”the ministry said in a statement.

In turn, Bakhtiyor Saidov told Lavrov about how Uzbekistan is preparing for early presidential elections, which will be held on July 9. The Russian side supported an important political event and declared its readiness to assist in holding it for the citizens of Uzbekistan who are in the Russian Federation.
