The meeting on the issue of providing assistance to Ukraine ended in a conflict between the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarta and his German counterpart Annalena Berbock. This is reported Politico with reference to diplomats familiar with the situation.

It is specified that the main stumbling block was Hungary’s refusal to increase military assistance to Ukraine until Kyiv excludes the Hungarian OTR bank from the list of “military sponsors”.

At the meeting, Burbock, according to Politico, stated that the said bank recognized the DPR and LPR as Russian. In addition, diplomats from other countries are also putting pressure on Hungary, persuading them to impose sanctions against Russia.

Earlier, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry reported that the European Union could neither accept a new package of anti-Russian sanctions, nor agree on financing military assistance to Ukraine.
