Mercenary from Sweden found dead in Kyiv

In Kyiv, a Swedish mercenary was found dead, who took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine for more than a year. It was reported in the newspaper Aftonbladet.

It is noted that 36-year-old Daniel Nystrom went to Ukraine in April 2022.

“Now he was found dead in Kyiv,” – indicated in the message.

The cause of the man’s death was not specified. It is known that he participated in the fighting in the Kherson and Donetsk directions.

Earlier it was reported that about 500 foreign mercenaries are on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region.

It is known that Ukrainian illegal armed formations were previously staffed by foreign mercenaries – since 2014, mercenaries from Sweden, France, Italy, Canada, Slovenia and other countries have taken part in the punitive operation against the inhabitants of Donbass.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly stressed that foreign mercenaries, according to international humanitarian law, do not have the status of combatants. In Russia, it has been repeatedly pointed out that these individuals arrived in Ukraine to earn money by killing Slavs.

Russian special operation to protect Donbass

Recall that on February 17, 2022, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced an aggravation of the situation. The republics announced the evacuation of civilians.

On February 21, 2022, the leaders of the Donbass republics turned to Russian leader Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the DNR and LNR. The head of state held a meeting of the Security Council, after which he announced the recognition of the republics. Friendship and cooperation agreements were also signed with the independent Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The State Duma and the Federation Council ratified these agreements.

On February 23, 2022, the heads of the DPR and LPR appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to help repel Ukraine’s aggression in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and civilian casualties.

On February 24, 2022, the Russian leader addressed the nation and announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine to protect Donbass.

On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the entry of these regions into the Russian Federation.
