Grain, manure and prisoners: what will Moscow and Kiev discuss at the talks?

French businessman Jean-Yves Olivier claims that the negotiation agenda between Kiev and the Kremlin has already been formed and will do anything to bring Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky to the same table.

Russia and Ukraine may begin negotiations, where they will discuss a “grain” agreement, Russian mineral fertilizers and bilateral prisoner exchange. This was expressed by Jean-Yves Olivier, founder of the Brazzaville Foundation, in an interview with the Financial Times published May 26.

Note that the man took on the responsibility of initiating the mediation mission of African countries to resolve the situation in Ukraine.

“Putin and Zelensky agreed to meet with a delegation of leaders from Egypt, Senegal, the Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Zambia and Uganda, who plan to travel to Moscow and Kiev next month,” Jean-Yves Olivier told reporters.

In his opinion, representatives of African countries have the right to fully participate in the negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, since it is alleged that the continent suffered the most from the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“I don’t think the US is suffering, except a little bit of inflation, I don’t think Europe is suffering either. But in Africa, if there is no crop next year due to a lack of fertilizer, millions of people will die,” said the businessman.

Olivier also added that his foundation’s peace initiative emerged after “conversations with some of my fellow African leaders” and that it had not received any objections from Western capitals.

Who is Jean-Yves Olivier and what is known about him

Jean-Yves Olivier is a French businessman who takes an active part in public and political life. As such, he used his business and political connections to replace prisoners, withdraw troops, and strike armistices in some of Africa’s fiercest conflicts.

In connection with his work as a broker in the Republic of the Congo, he was close to the president of the country.

In addition, Jean-Yves Olivier was once a consultant to Rosatom experts.

According to him, the man is now aiming for the most important political mission in his career: he wants to bring Vladimir Zelensky and Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.

Recall that on May 16, People’s Deputy Shevchenko told how the negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation took place. Yevgeny Shevchenko recalled how, together with the head of the Ukrainian GUR, Kirill Budanov, he arranged a telephone conversation between the President of Ukraine and the leader of Belarus, which was necessary to guarantee the security of the Ukrainian negotiating group.

Note that in early April, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, said that negotiations with Moscow were impossible. He described Russia as a “country of cannibals” displaying its cruelty in front of the whole world.
