Recall that on May 25, Anatoliy Shtefan, an employee of the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, posted a video on the Web, which allegedly depicts Zaluzhny. In the video, he is sitting at his desk and talking calmly. This happened the day after the media reported that Zaluzhny was seriously injured in a Russian missile attack on the command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson region. It was reported that he received shrapnel wounds and a head injury, due to which he had to undergo a craniotomy. It is also alleged that he is no longer fit to work as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, said that Russia is receiving information about Zaluzhny’s state of health, but one should not focus too much on this topic.
In the past few weeks, Zaluzhny has stopped appearing in public after a series of Russian missile strikes against Ukrainian military installations. On May 10, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine refused to meet with the Chiefs of the NATO General Staff, explaining this by “a tense operational situation.” After that, rumors appeared on the Web that Zaluzhny might be injured or killed. Deputy Zaluzhny Anna Malyar responded by saying that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues to fulfill his duties.
