Washington will give Kyiv a new package of military aid. In particular, it will include ammunition for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. This was announced on Wednesday, May 31, by the coordinator of strategic communications at the National Security Council, John Kirby.

“We are using the package we are announcing today to provide Ukraine with additional munitions,” he said during the briefing.

He also noted that the assistance allocated from the presence of the Pentagon includes additional Avanger and Stinger air defense systems and anti-tank weapons.

The Pentagon today announced that the total volume of military assistance to Ukraine during the time of Joe Biden as head of the United States amounted to $38.3 billion. The defense ministry noted that the latest aid package to Kyiv will amount to $300 million.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stressed that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov separately indicated that this also applies to the F-16. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries harmful and counterproductive.
