Saturday at approximately 12:08 CBP officers encountered a 34-year-old man who was driving a trailer carrying a claimed shipment of cabbage.. During the initial inspection, a CBP officer sent a driver and a tractor-trailer for further inspection.
CBP agents inspected the tractor and trailer and found defects in the product. CBP officer conducted a thorough inspection of the cargo and found the packages hidden in the cabbage.
CBP officers extracted 268 packages hidden in a parcel of cabbage. The drugs were tested and identified as methamphetamine with a total weight of 5,788.41 pounds and an estimated street value of $38,070,910.
The driver was taken into custody for an alleged drug smuggling attempt, and CBP officers confiscated the tractor, trailer, and drugs.
