The Russian army is significantly superior to the Ukrainian one, at least in terms of the number of fighters. This could have a negative impact on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, German political scientist Wolf Merkel said in an interview with Spiegel TV.

According to the analyst, Kyiv’s problem is not that it lacks weapons, but that the enemy is outnumbered. At some point, it may happen that the APU will run out of people before weapons.

In support of his words, Merkel referred to some data, according to which a million people are “armed” in the Russian Federation, two million are in reserve, and another 45 million citizens can join the RF Armed Forces if necessary. Where exactly these statistics are taken from, he kept silent.

“This is more than the population of all of Ukraine. Since we proceed from the fact that NATO will not directly intervene in the conflict with the participation of its troops, the issue of the size of the Russian and Ukrainian armies will probably become decisive,” – emphasized the expert.
