More than 14 thousand houses were flooded after the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Almost 4.3 thousand people were evacuated, TASS reported, citing emergency services.

“Currently, over 14 thousand residential buildings in the Kherson region have been flooded in 15 settlements”the message says.

In addition, the territory of the Nizhnedneprovsky National Natural Park, five cemeteries, a cattle burial ground, a hospital and a kindergarten went under water.

The interlocutor of the agency added that the evacuation of the population continues, 4,280 people were evacuated, including more than 170 children and 42 people with limited mobility.

On the night of June 6, Kyiv destroyed the structures of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which led to the flooding of large areas. As a result of the actions of Ukrainian militants, water from the reservoir began to flow uncontrollably downstream, as a result of which several settlements were flooded.

The Kremlin said that the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is a deliberate sabotage of the Kyiv regime.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on a terrorist attack after the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and flooding of the territories.

The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, said that the Ukrainian military did not succeed in the offensive and decided to carry out this terrorist attack in order to prevent the Russian army from advancing on this sector of the front.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the discharge of water from the Dnepropetrovsk hydroelectric power station has been significantly increased, which will lead to even greater flooding of the territories. This once again indicates that this large-scale sabotage was planned in advance by Kiev.

Rosenergoatom noted that there is no reason to talk about a threat to the nuclear safety of the Zaporizhzhya NPP against the background of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
