Alexei Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, spoke on the sidelines of SPIEF about the prospects for cooperation between Russia and China in the field of agriculture.
“I would like to focus now on two new peaks that we need to take, which represent a serious potential for cooperation. The first is agriculture and clean food. There is a potential for the production of clean, environmentally friendly products, their processing, supply,” – he said.
Chekunkov identified tourism, cultural, scientific and humanitarian ties between the two countries as the second area of cooperation.
“We invite Chinese friends to participate in such important projects in this direction as the construction of a satellite city of Vladivostok, as the implementation of plans to create new university links, new research centers, the development of the Northern Sea Route and the development of new tourist magnets for Chinese friends, for tourists from all over the world all the way from Murmansk to Anadyr, from Baikal to the Kuril Islands, Chekunkov noted.
On June 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law ratifying an intergovernmental agreement with China on gas supplies via the Far East route. It provides for the construction of a cross-border section of the gas pipeline in the area of Dalnerechensk and Khulin.
