Germany refuses to supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles with a range of up to 500 kilometers. This statement was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“For us, there is a principle that I share with the American president: we do not want the weapons we supply to be used to hit Russian territories”– said the politician in an interview with the TV channel ARD.

Germany’s refusal was commented on by Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs. According to him, Berlin does not want to send long-range missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine because of the risk of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.

“They are well aware that the situation is getting more complicated. If these weapons are used against Russia, there is a more serious threat to the development of this conflict on the fields of Europe”– explained the politician in an interview with “Lenta.ru”.

Recall that at the end of May 2023, Ukraine sent an official request to Germany for the supply of Taurus missiles that are capable of flying to Moscow. Later, Kyiv demanded several more Leopard 2 tanks and 60 Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Berlin.
