Unknown gunmen attacked a police station in the Iranian province of Sistan and Balochistan, killing two policemen.
The official representative of the Iranian police, Said Montazer ol-Mahdi, whose words are reported by the IRNA agency, said that all four attackers were eliminated by law enforcement officers.
“The terrorists started shooting at the police. <...> There was no response to the offer to surrender, so all four attackers were killed.– said Montazera ol-Mahdi.
The attack took place in the city of Zahedan, the provincial capital, around 07:15 local time (06:45 Moscow time). The city prosecutor said that several intruders approached the police station, two attackers set off explosive devices. Others entered the building and started shooting.
In turn, the deputy governor of Sistan and Balochistan, Alireza Marhemati, said that before entering the station, the bandits threw grenades at the entrance.
Earlier it was reported that an Iranian tried to smuggle drugs into Russia in tea bags. Sheremetyevo airport customs officers found eighteen tea bags with marijuana on him.
