The entry of an American strategic submarine into the South Korean port of Pusan may be a sufficient condition for the DPRK to use nuclear weapons. This statement was made by the Minister of Defense of the DPRK Kang Soon Nam.

“A noticeable increase in the deployment of strategic assets, including a strategic nuclear submarine, may be subject to conditions for the use of nuclear weapons,” he was quoted by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA)

Kang Soon Nam added that the country’s nuclear doctrine specifies the necessary procedures for committing or approaching a nuclear attack against the country.

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, the United States should be aware that “their strategic weapon has entered too dangerous waters.” He warned Washington and the “military gangsters” of the “Republic of Korea” about the consequences that provocative statements may be fraught with.

Kang Sun Nam assured that the DPRK will repel the attempts of the US and allies to use nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula.

Earlier in the DPRK, the sending of a US nuclear submarine to the Korean Peninsula was considered nuclear blackmail.

Earlier, the North Korean Foreign Ministry accused the United States and South Korea of allegedly escalating the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the point of nuclear confrontation.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry also stressed the country’s intention to increase defense capabilities.

A research report from the Institute of American Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry compares military tensions in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia to the night before the outbreak of the Korean War of 1950–53. The US and South Korea are accused of “delusional anti-communist military confrontation” and “rhetorical threats.”
